Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Trip Report 7/8/08
By Chris
Discovery Kingdom started with a bang bringing in this Camel. This is not the one in the naming contest.
This irritated me the most. After running directly to Medusa when it opened, the person stopped me since I had a backpack. It's a good thing I wasn't there alone and my brother held the bag. This was for every major coaster with the exception of V2 and Boomerang.
I assume they have this for every Six Flags park but seriously, this is a lame way to make money. I only see this as "fun" if it was a feature in Roller Coaster Tycoon!
This is like getting taxed per ride. They already charge for admission, why charge an extra buck for a ride? Did the Cubbies have to disappear on me?
The Tony Hawk's Big Spin Entrance taken from the Roar Queue line.
The Queue line waiting area. I don't see TVs while waiting in line much but I finally do now. (The line was never this long to be in here).
There was alot of trivia in the queue lines.
More Trivia on Skateboarding tricks. The Tony Hawk Video game series should die (Only the first 2 were good) but keep this ride.
Boomerang from directly under the Cobra Roll. I actually like the new colors since I like most colleges with blue and gold.
Boomerang. Note: This is one of the few Vekoma's I've been on. Other than that it is Kong and Invertigo. I don't get why people have liked them. My experiences have been terrible.
The Big Medusa Loop. (Couldn't get it perfectly centered when taking an action shot.
Sea Lion. I thought the changes to the show were actually better than the previous one.
Shouka the Whale. Now 4 years with SFDK.
Dolphin. The show was allright.
Forgot which animal this is but can anyone help me out?
A Couple of Camels. The baby one wasn't on display but there were signs of "name me" everywhere. According to one of the workers, "Kahn" will be the projected name they like. I submitted another name.
Some kind of Swordfish. Forgot what the title.
Another Tiger, Forgot the name though. The Feeding was funny since the Tigers had to keep digging for their food rather than holding onto it.
SFDK was promoting these "Fuzion Scooters" and people got to test them out for free. I had fun playing with one of them. I couldn't do any tricks since I don't do that normally.
This was the average wait time for a ride after 4PM. All the Day camps left and even rides like Medusa had no wait. No need to buy any flash passes. The only lines were those waiting to be in the back and front.
After a long day, it's all about eating Animal Fries at In n Out Burger. (Any of you who are outside of Arizona, Utah, California and Nevada jealous?)
